About EPOCH!

The Ellesmere Port league celebrated its 70th Anniversary in 2007 and the Chester league is of a very similar age.

To promote the game in the area and hopefully improve the standard and attract new players to the league it was agreed in 1997/ to set up a Premier division using the top 4 teams from both the leagues and this duly took place with a joint committee in place to oversee any problems.

This step proved to be a major success and in the season 2005/6 it was agreed to take the next stage and amalgamate the fixtures for all the divisions with the proviso that the leagues remain separate when it comes to cup competitions and tournaments etc. and keep their own committees.

EPOCH Tournament 2010

This has been in operation now for 5 seasons and has been a popular move as well as attracting new teams and players especially from North Wales which has added to the general strength of the playing standards.

We believe we are the largest league in Cheshire with 37 teams in 4 divisions, and our Town team competes in the Premier division of the Lancashire/Cheshire league. We also have 2 successful Veterans sides, one in Division 1, the other in Division 3, and our ladies team have entered the National Rose Bowl cup this season.

The symbol EPOCH seemed appropriate being a combination of letters from the two towns, but also the fact that the amalgamation in 2005 marked a new era for the game of table tennis in the area.
